What I collect, why, who sees it, and how to ask me to delete it.

Who I am

This site is run by Jason Foster, trading as Designspin, a freelance software engineering practice based in Norwich, UK. For anything related to your personal data, email jason@designspin.co.uk.

What I collect

When you submit the contact form, I receive whatever you choose to put in it. That is typically your name, your email address, an optional project type and budget range, and your message.

The website itself does not use analytics, advertising cookies, or tracking pixels. The only thing the site stores on your device is your light or dark mode preference, kept in your browser's local storage so the theme stays consistent the next time you visit. That preference never leaves your browser.

Why I collect it

To read your enquiry and reply to it. That is the only reason. I do not add contact form submissions to a mailing list, sell them, or use them for marketing.

Under UK GDPR the lawful basis is "legitimate interests": you contacted me, so it is reasonable for me to use the details you provided to write back.

Who else sees it

Three suppliers help me run this site. They act as "processors" on my behalf, meaning they handle data only to provide the service to me.

  • Web3Forms receives your form submission and forwards it to my inbox as an email. See their privacy notice for details on how they handle the data in transit.
  • Google (Gmail) hosts the inbox the form submissions land in.
  • Vercel hosts the website. Vercel may log basic request data (timestamp, IP, user agent) for security and abuse prevention.

I do not share submissions with anyone else. I do not transfer your data outside the UK or EEA beyond what those suppliers already do under their own safeguards (UK adequacy, standard contractual clauses, or equivalent).

How long I keep it

Contact form emails stay in my inbox for as long as they remain useful, usually until the conversation has clearly ended and a reasonable follow-up window has passed. If you would prefer your message deleted sooner, ask and I will delete it.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask me to:

  • show you what personal data I hold about you,
  • correct anything that is wrong,
  • delete it,
  • restrict how I use it,
  • provide it to you in a portable format,
  • object to me processing it on the legitimate-interests basis.

Email jason@designspin.co.uk and I will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how I have handled your data you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

Cookies

This site does not set any cookies. The only client-side storage is the theme preference described above, which is strictly functional and exempt from cookie-consent requirements under PECR.

Changes to this policy

If I add analytics, change suppliers, or otherwise change how the site handles data, I will update this page and bump the "last updated" date at the top.
